The DG-42947 carriage encoder (CR Encoder Assy) is the carriage encoder sensor mounted on Mutoh Valuejet large-format printers (1324, 1638, 2638, 426UF and XPJ series).

It reads the position information on the encoder strip to determine the exact carriage position on the horizontal axis in real time and passes it to the main board, which synchronises the firing of the nozzles with the carriage travel. This precision guarantees a perfect alignment of the ink drops and a constant print quality, including in high-speed bidirectional mode. It is replaced in case of a reading fault causing print offsets or encoder errors.
