Linear encoder strip – Roland SP-300 – 21475149

The Roland 21475149 linear encoder strip (Sheet, Linear Scale SP-300) is the optical scale mounted along the carriage rail. The encoder sensor continuously reads it to determine the exact position of the print heads along the travel axis.

Its graduations at 180 lines per inch (180 LPI) provide the controller with the position reference on each pass. This precision ensures accurate drop placement and bidirectional printing without misalignment.

Supplied on its own, in the original dimensions of 1382 × 15 mm, including fixing holes. Three options are available on this product page: New (original Roland part), Refurbished (inspected original part) or New / Compatible (strip manufactured by DG Spare Parts).

Function

• To provide the encoder sensor with the carriage’s position reference

Possible symptoms of wear

• ‘Motor error’ message or carriage stoppage during printing
• Misalignment or duplication of passes in bidirectional mode
• Fine, irregular stripes across the width of the media
• Scratches, ink marks or faded graduations visible on the belt
