Linear encoder scale – Mimaki UJF-3042 MkII – E301263

The Mimaki E301263 linear encoder scale (Linear Encoder Scale 150 LPI 970) is the optical ruler fitted along the Y-bar of the UJF-3042 MkII UV flatbed printer. The encoder sensor continuously reads it to determine the exact position of the print heads.

Its graduations at 150 lines per inch (150 LPI) provide the controller with the position reference for each pass. This precision ensures accurate drop placement and bidirectional printing without misalignment. Please note: the first-generation UJF-3042 uses reference E300721 (940 mm), which is not interchangeable.

Supplied on its own, in the original dimensions of 970 × 15 mm, including mounting holes. Three options are available on this product page: New (original Mimaki part), Refurbished (inspected original part) or New / Compatible (strip manufactured by DG Spare Parts).

• Strip cut in our workshop from a generic 150 LPI encoder strip, 15 mm wide, to the original length of 970 mm.
• Supplied without mounting holes: these must be drilled by the customer by marking the position of the holes on their original strip.
• Same resolution and width as the original part, compatible with the existing encoder sensor.
• Made to order; does not come with a Mimaki manufacturer’s warranty.

Function

• To provide the encoder sensor with the position reference of the carriage on the Y-axis
• Ensure synchronisation between the carriage’s movement and the print heads’ operation
• Ensure alignment of the forward and return passes
• Maintain the dimensional accuracy of the prints

Possible symptoms of wear

• ‘Y current over’ error or carriage stoppage during printing
• Misalignment or duplication of passes in bidirectional mode
• Fine, irregular stripes across the width of the media
• Scratches, ink marks or faded graduations visible on the ribbon

Replacing the encoder belt restores reliable carriage positioning and eliminates registration errors caused by impaired reading.
