DF-42520 – Electronic board (Board Assembly) – Mutoh Rockhopper

The electronic board (Board Assembly, DF-42520) is fitted to Mutoh printers. It provides the electronic control of a machine sub-system and passes the signals to the control board.

The board carries the DF-42520 silkscreen and the MDS-N1 marking. The Rockhopper II maintenance manual calls it the "Junction Board Assembly": it groups 18 connectors, J401 and J402 to the main board, J403 to J410 for the ink sensors of the 8 colours (K, C, M, Y, LC, LM, O, G) and J411 to J418 for the cables of cartridges 1 to 8.

Function

• Links the ink sensors of the 8 colours and the cables of the 8 cartridges to the main board
• Conditions the signals between the cartridges and the electronics (74x244 buffers, 74LS07 drivers)
• Provides the electronic control of a sub-system
• Passes the signals to the control board
• Acts as the interface between firmware and hardware

Signs of wear

• Ink not detected or false ink-out alert on one or more colours

• Simultaneous fault on several colours, pointing to a failing junction rather than a single sensor
